Thinking About Going to the Galapagos Islands: Here is Why You Need to

As the holidays draw nearer, it is important to find the best holiday location for you and your family. You will be surprised by rare animals that can only be found in the Galapagos Islands. Here is why you should visit the Galapagos Islands.

The major reason why you should go the Galapagos Islands is to catch a glimpse of the pink iguanas. These beautiful creatures reside in the wolf volcano that has the tallest peak compared to the other volcanoes. Pink iguanas are an endangered species.

After seeing the giant tortoises, Charles Darwin came up with the theory of Evolution. These huge tortoises can live up to 150 years. Despite the fact that they were almost extinct some years ago, they are now many. They are able to survive for months without food. Floating in water is something else they can do. Floating in water enables them to migrate comfortably.

Another reason why you need to go to the Galapagos Islands is to see the marine iguanas. Marine Iguanas are similar to Godzilla. These strange looking creatures love sunbathing on the coastal rocks. Other than that, they can live on water or on land. By visiting the Galapagos Island you will get to hear the voice produced by marine iguanas while trying to remove salt from their nasal cavities.

Other creatures found in the Galapagos Islands are the Blue-footed Boobies. They are usually found in Colonies. The scenery of these animals will mesmerize you. Blue-footed Boobies have different shades of beige, brown, and white. During the mating season you will be lucky to see these birds stamping their feet to get mates. Another thing that will catch your attention is the manner in which these creatures congratulate their pals after diving in the water to look for food. Visiting the Galapagos will also provide you with a rare opportunity of seeing the Frigate birds soaring in the skies. Frigate birds haunt for food by fishing fish from the surface of the water.

Furthermore, they get their food by intimidating the other birds to let the food they have go. Ensure that you will catch a glimpse of the Frigate birds during the mating season. You will be impressed by the way; the male frigate birds fill their lungs with air to impress the females.

The other endangered creature you will also see by visiting the Galapagos is the waved Albatross. It is interesting to see how these romantic animals flirt with each other to find their mates so one should plan a trip!
Lastly, it is essential to have a look at the only remaining breeding pairs of the Galapagos Island. These penguins are flightless. The Galapagos penguins find it difficult to maintain balance on land but move fairly easy in water.
